A place to start your solo trip
SoloRove brings together destination inspiration and practical room-choice guidance for people travelling on their own. Start with Japan, explore another place that catches your eye, and build a shortlist at your own pace.
Our English-language guides are written for independent travellers, with practical starting points for readers in the UK and the US. We begin with Japan and include a small selection of other destinations. A destination belongs in this collection because it offers useful choices to explore, not because it is guaranteed to suit every traveller.
The website is operated by Jan Brchaň. You can reach Jan at jan.brchan@gmail.com.
How it works
- Choose your starting point. Select a destination, dates and the kind of space you prefer: a private room, capsule or social hostel.
- Get a feel for the place. Read the neighbourhood and room notes, then save destinations you like.
- Check an accommodation provider. Follow a link and confirm the exact room, one guest, dates, final price and terms on that provider’s website.
The UK/US setting chooses a preferred market and currency for supported search links. A provider can change or reset search details, so check them again before booking.
What you can expect
Our guides are editorial inspiration. They do not show live accommodation inventory, verified room availability or a comprehensive price comparison. A saved search is stored in your browser; automatic price monitoring and email alerts are not available in the current version.
SoloRove does not take booking payments or make reservations. Destination images illustrate the places, rather than a particular hotel room. See Terms & Conditions for the scope of the service.
Useful detail before a booking link
A solo trip raises practical questions: which neighbourhood fits the first evening, whether a capsule offers the privacy you want, and whether a displayed rate covers one person for the whole stay. Our articles help you work through those decisions.
- Your first solo trip to Japan: build a manageable first itinerary.
- Private room, capsule or dorm?: choose the space that fits your needs.
- Booking accommodation for one: check the room, total and conditions before paying.
These are research-based planning guides, not reports of personal stays or hotel inspections. Our Editorial Policy explains our sources, selection criteria and correction process.
How the site may be funded
Approved accommodation affiliate programmes could support the website through commissions on qualifying bookings. Current public links earn no commission. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for the current status and how commercial links are identified.
