No account, newsletter, advertising trackers or analytics are installed in this version. Saved places and preferences use your browser’s local storage. If you email us or follow a provider link, information also passes outside your browser as described below.
1. Who is responsible
Jan Brchaň operates SoloRove and is responsible for personal information handled for the site and its enquiries. Contact: jan.brchan@gmail.com.
This notice describes the current version of SoloRove. It does not cover a booking platform you visit using an external link; that platform has its own privacy notice.
2. Information used by the site
Saved places and preferences
When you save a place or search, or choose a market to remember, the site stores destination IDs, travel dates, room preferences and/or your UK/US market in local storage on this browser. There is no account synchronisation or server-side shortlist database. The stored information is read when you return so the requested feature can work.
The Cookies & Local Storage page lists the individual storage entries and provides a control to remove them. Exporting a shortlist downloads a file to your device; it does not upload that file to us.
Search URLs and page requests
Search filters also appear in the page URL. They can remain in browser history or be disclosed when you copy or share the URL. Opening or refreshing that URL sends it to the server along with normal connection information, such as your IP address and browser request headers.
The public solorove.com web server keeps technical access and error logs to deliver the site, investigate faults and protect it from misuse. These can include IP addresses, requested page addresses and query strings, request times, response codes, browser information and referring pages supplied by the browser. Local development previews process requests but do not write an application access log. We do not use these technical logs to create advertising profiles or install visitor analytics.
If you contact us
If you email Jan Brchaň, we receive your email address, your name if supplied, the message, attachments you choose to send and associated email information. We use these to respond, investigate an issue and handle related follow-up. Contacting us does not subscribe you to marketing.
Please send only information needed for your enquiry. Do not send payment card details, passwords or passport copies. We do not need them to help with this website.
3. Purposes and legal grounds
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, we rely on legitimate interests to respond to enquiries, correct reported issues and operate and protect the website. Those interests are providing a useful service and dealing with visitors’ requests, balanced against their privacy rights. If a specific legal duty requires us to retain or disclose information, that processing is based on the relevant legal obligation.
Browser storage is used to carry out the saving or remembering feature you request. We do not treat your continued browsing as permission for advertising or analytics tracking. If a future optional feature needs consent, it must explain the choice before that processing starts.
4. External services and recipients
Website hosting: the server and its infrastructure process the technical request information needed to deliver the website. Access to operational logs is restricted to server administration; the logs are not published or sent to accommodation providers as a visitor list.
Email: the contact mailbox uses Gmail, provided by Google. Email information is processed through that service and may be handled in countries other than your own. See Google’s Privacy Policy for its processing, international arrangements and privacy controls.
Accommodation websites: clicking a provider link takes you to an external service. Supported search links include the destination, dates, one adult and preferred currency. That service receives the resulting request and may use its own cookies or tracking under its policies. The room type and dates must be confirmed there.
Other disclosures: we may provide information where a legal duty requires it or it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The current site does not use automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.
5. How long information is kept
- Local storage: there is no built-in expiry. Entries remain until you remove them, clear site data or your browser removes them. We cannot remotely recover or delete a shortlist on your device.
- Email enquiries: correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry and directly related follow-up, or to meet a specific legal obligation or deal with a dispute. When those purposes no longer apply, it should be deleted. You can request deletion or ask about a particular message.
- URLs and exported files: browser history, shared links and downloaded shortlist files are under your control. Clearing SoloRove’s local storage does not delete them.
- Technical server logs: the public web server is configured for daily log rotation, with 14 archived log files retained in addition to the current log. Deletion follows that rotation cycle. Local development previews do not retain an application access-log history.
6. Your choices and rights
You can remove saved places individually, export a shortlist from Saved, or clear all SoloRove local data. Blocking browser storage may prevent preferences from being remembered; reading the site remains possible.
Depending on the law that applies and its conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of personal information we hold. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Send a privacy request to jan.brchan@gmail.com. Describe what information or interaction your request concerns. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal time limit.
You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority. For UK matters, see the Information Commissioner’s Office. For EU/EEA matters, find your authority in the European Data Protection Board directory.
7. Changes to this notice
We will update this page when the data we use or the way the service operates changes. The date above identifies this version. Contact Jan Brchaň using the email above if anything is unclear.
